An instrument might be the perfect Christmas present for your music-loving little one. But finding and buying the right instrument for your child can be tricky for even the most musical of parents. Where do you start when considering what to buy, and how do you make sure your child gets the most from their wonderful new instrument? We at The Strings Club are here to help!
We at the The Strings Club have some tips on buying an instrument for your child:
For children aged 4 or 5 we know from experience ukulele and violin are perfect - compact, light and ideal for little hands!
If a child wants to play a particular instrument, chances are they will then practise and play it at home - which trust us, is half the battle. So let them take the lead and make sure you choose an instrument they really want to learn. We also know you don’t want to invest in regular lessons without trying out a lesson, so check out our popular YouTube channel with a range of pre-recorded lessons.
Be careful when buying an instrument online! We’d recommend calling our partners Normans Musical Instruments – an independent retailer that are super friendly and can deliver within a week. They are currently offering us an exclusive 10% off using discount code STRINGSCLUB10. We’d also recommend your local music shop, as they will be able to help with sizing.
Gear up with essentials like tuners, violin rosin, cases, and books. Your local music shop is your one-stop-shop for these must-haves.
This is so important! Forcing your child to practise at home for half an hour after school may not work. However, sitting with your child during practice sessions and showing interest will really help foster their love for music. You might even discover your inner musician along the way!
We hope these quick tips help in getting your child’s musical journey off to a great start! Happy gifting!
