As families gear up for Half Term and a break from school routines, as parents ourselves we understand the challenges of finding affordable and engaging activities to keep children entertained (especially if the weather's a bit dreary!)
So we've compiled a list of five brilliant and cost-free things to do with children in London this February Half Term. We hope it's helpful!

Create your own 'sound art' using a range of materials and inspiration from the art in Tate's collection, filling the space with echoes, rattles, hums, donks and bops! You can explore hanging soundscapes, sound sculptures or even make your own sound by moving your body. There will be materials, microphones, headphones and speakers, all ready for you to get noisy, listen in and create your own symphony.

The Royal Parks present a free Brilliant Birds Discovery Day this Half Term at the Hyde Park Learning Centre. There will be a host of free bird-inspired interactive activities including a discovery trail to learn fascinating facts about our feathered friends, bird watching in their gardens with a pair of our binoculars, dissecting owl pellets, and crafting an intricate birds nest! Your chance to get creative in this exciting and experimental day of artist-led workshops across the Museum of the Home, including large-scale collective clay building with Cernamic co-founder Nam and placemat making with textile artist Kim Chin.

Half Term at the Museum of London Docklands is jam-packed with activities on the theme of migration. Choose from tasty cookery lessons taught by a French/Tunisian chef, storytelling with a Caribbean theme, music and folktales inspired by Eastern Europe, energetic toddler parties with music from around the world, and craft activities celebrating London’s diverse cultures and languages.

The Southbank Centre once again comes up trumps with their wide-range of free activities for families this Half Term! In their Imagine Children's Festival there’s something for everyone, with too many fab free events to list, including: a Disco Party, loads of workshops - from Placard Making to comedy to beatboxing - an interactive poetry gig, and ZooNation’s Hip-Hop Half-Term.
